Who is the King of Numbers? Ms. Horne's second grade class voted on "who" should be the King of Numbers? Students had to write why they thought their favorite number was best. They created graphs to compare the votes. In the end, Number 12 was the winner. Long Live Number 12 !!!
Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year at Winnona Park! We were very excited about our first week of school. As the staff came together Monday afternoon, we were all in agreement that the first day of school was the smoothest in recent memory. Our Community Circle was pretty warm outside, so I decided to cut it short. There were a few tears in the kindergarten area (parents and students) but once all the newest members of our community settled into the classroom, there were nothing but smiles.
Throughout the week the teachers were teaching the routines of the school and building that sense of community in each classroom that is so important. I saw a lot of straight quiet lines of students walking throughout the building and circles of well-behaved students on the carpets in each classroom.
Dismissal on Monday and the rest of the week was very orderly and went according to plan.NO LOST STUDENTS!! Things can be a bit confusing in the first week, but I was amazed at how quickly children and parents cleared out.
Thank you to the entire Winnona Park community for a great first week of school.
