Ilene Zeff, Librarian

Ms. Zeff and Teddy

My path to the Winnona Park library was a "long and winding road" that began with a love for the natural world and technology. After studying Natural Resource Management and earning a Master's in GIS (computer-based mapping) from Ohio State, I spent several years in software development. However, as schools began building their first computer labs, I realized my true calling wasn't in a corporate office—it was in education.

After several years in private education, I earned my Master's in Library Media and have proudly served as Winnona Park's Media Specialist since 2009. I love supporting students as they develop independent reading skills and discover their favorite books. I'm also passionate about supporting our families with digital wellness and helping students cultivate a healthy, balanced relationship with technology.

I have lived in the City of Decatur since 1998 and raised two sons who are DHS graduates ('15 and '18). When I'm not in the library, you can usually find me riding my bike, cooking, reading, or walking my dog, Teddy.
